Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation
Between August and April 2005/2006 I worked as a Wildlife Technician for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation’s wildlife program in Connecticut. This was a temporary 8-month contracted position, where I was involved with fox and coyote research (trapping and telemetry), cottontail trapping for a New England cottontail and Eastern cottontail study, owl call back surveys, spring salamander migration surveys, and other wildlife-related activities. The fox in particular is of cultural significance to the Western Pequot Tribe (The Fox People) as it is representative of a more chaotic time in their history. The reservation itself is a place of mystery, excitement, and significant historical sites!
