Upon inquisitive request, I have fashioned this website to present a brief overview of my education and work-related experiences, and share with you some of my travel adventures from across America. I’ll start off by telling you a little about myself. My full name is Lisa Anne Marie Selner, nicknamed “Buffalo Annie.” Time and again I am complimented on my independent nature, courage, and genuine character. I have often been told that I should write a book on my life’s many adventures, perhaps one day that concept might become tangible. I am truly thankful for my family and friends who have been there for me throughout my journey thus far, as I wouldn’t be where I am today without their support.
Born and raised on a small farm in Connecticut, my birth day is summer solstice (June 21st). I attended kindergarten through eighth grade at a private school, and was enrolled in the Vocational Agricultural Program at a local public high school, focusing on Animal Science. Throughout high school and college I gained work and volunteer experiences through a private forestry company, a veterinary hospital, horse farms, beef and dairy farms, a livestock auction, a department store, a hospital gift shop, and various Native American programs.
During my last two years of college to present day I have obtained various wildlife-related positions with state and federal agencies, tribal programs, and private entities, and have come to appreciate the diversity of experiences I gain with each unique opportunity. I have also been provided ample opportunities to travel throughout the United States, and some parts of Canada and Mexico. Having always been fascinated by the American West in particular, during the latter portion of my college career I made it a point to start becoming acquainted with the west, along with its diversity in cultures, landscapes, and wilderness areas. I also witnessed uninhabited areas that few people have seen. I enjoy scenic and wildlife photography and take advantage of every opportunity to explore my surroundings and share my adventures with others through photographic diaries. My field work and travel adventures continue to this day. I have been to most of the United States and plan to visit the remaining states over the next few years. Life has been a wild ride so far, and I look forward to what will transpire!
Along with my passions for wildlife and the outdoors, other interests of mine include: hunting, fishing, horseback riding, American frontier history, writing, crafts (beadwork especially), taxidermy, log homes, watching movies, country music, Ford trucks (even though I drive a Chevy truck at the moment), and spending time with friends at powwows. I also enjoy stories of Bigfoot and the Little People. Currently I hold memberships with The Wildlife Society and the Native Peoples' Wildlife Management Working Group, and several other organizations. |
