Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection
Fisheries, Wildlife & Forestry Experiences
During the winter/spring of 2003/2004 I obtained a seasonal Wildlife Resource Assistant position with the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (CT DEP). I was stationed in the eastern part of the state and participated with various fisheries, wildlife and forestry-related projects, including: radio telemetry surveys of the state’s black bear population, necropsies of fisher and river otter, a deer drive, wood duck box construction and maintenance, pelt tagging stations and auction, beaver damage control, trout stocking, boundary line marking, prescribed burns, etc. It was great to gain experience with so many activities!

I was also involved with a Connecticut chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and assisted with their annual banquet and auction.
